Anycia’s Mixtape Cover Is a 10/10 Reference

It’s Anycia‘s mixtape release day, and she’s already making rap history.

Released on July 18, Grady Baby marks the first female rapper from Atlanta to ever release a project with the iconic DJ Drama. If the mixtape cover art looks familiar, that’s because it is.

Lensed in her home of Georgia, the “Back Outside” rapper is pictured being held by men. The cover references a notable rap moment by legend Lil Kim. The moment was captured in the early 2000s — Anycia’s favorite fashion era.

Grady Baby is more than just a tape to me — it’s a moment,” Anycia said. “Being the first woman from Atlanta to drop a Gangsta Grillz is something I don’t take lightly. DJ Drama helped shape the sound I grew up on, so to be able to tap in with him and bring this project to life feels full circle. I wanted to give people something real, something that represents where I’m from and where I’m headed.”

DJ Drama added, “Gangsta Grillz was built on culture; representing the culture, co-signing the culture and moving the culture forward,” said DJ Drama. “I’ve always put the Gangsta Grillz stamp on projects that I felt represented the culture either current or future. Anycia is one of the brightest upcoming female rappers who I feel confident can deliver another timeless Gangsta Grillz project.”
