Jordan Brand continues its tribute to Mexican heritage in 2025 with the Air Jordan 3 Mexico “El Vuelo”, following last year’s Air Jordan 5 “El Grito” release. The silhouette is inspired by Mexico City’s lucha libre wrestling tradition. It makes the connection between Michael Jordan’s Jordanesque flight and the aerial antics of the masked grapplers who dominated the ring.
The shoe is built around a “Summit White” leather upper detailed with green, white, and red elements inspired by the Mexican flag. Patterned overlays are cut from textured and patent leather panels and recall the look of traditional luchador masks. Metallic Gold eyelets and Jumpman branding give the shoe championship-winner vibes. Details of Pine Green and Dragon Red give the sneaker a festive feel. Iconic AJ3 features like visible Air cushioning and elephant print-style paneling are reworked in this cultural colorway.
The tongues of the Air Jordan 3 Mexico “El Vuelo” are embroidered with the Spanish words “QUE FUERZA” and “MÁS VALE MAÑA”, or “What Strength” and “Cleverness is Worth More.” These are common phrases in lucha libre culture and are a nod to both the fight in the ring and the importance of strategic thinking. The special edition box art and packaging serve as the cherry on top, resembling a vintage lucha libre fight poster.
Air Jordan 3 Mexico Release Date
The Air Jordan 3 Mexico “El Vuelo” will drop on September 16, 2025, coinciding with Mexican Independence Day. It will be available at select Jordan Brand retail locations and on Nike.com, with a retail price of $230 USD.
