What We Know
If you’ve bought an MB&F before, or entered (not just won) a raffle for a M.A.D.Editions watch (like the many versions of the M.A.D.1), then the brand has some good news for you. You could win a free watch. And the kicker? You don’t have to do a single thing: you may already be entered to win. These are the new LM101 Longhorn and M.A.D.1S 20th Anniversary pieces, which MB&F says are a way to give back to the community that’s supported them for the last twenty years. There are ten pieces of each, all designed with a matching aesthetic that the brand will never make again.

If you’re a member of “The Tribe” (people who have purchased an MB&F from the brand over the past twenty years), you’re automatically entered for the LM101 Longhorn 20th Anniversary Edition. The watch takes its name from the unusual and distinctive long lugs, which have only been used on three previous MB&F pieces, and is housed in a 40mm by 16mm stainless steel case that features the LM101 movement (which we’ve covered in the past and even made our own limited edition version).
That movement was developed in-house by MB&F, with movement aesthetics and finish specifications by Kari Voutilainen. It features a giant floating balance over the silver dial plate, accompanied by black subdials and blued hands.
If you’ve ever entered a M.A.D.Editions raffle (whether you’ve won one, all, or none), you’ve got a free entry—already signed, sealed, and delivered—for a matching colorway of M.A.D.1S for the anniversary. If you want the full specifications on the M.A.D.1S you can read our past coverage. The stainless steel 42mm by 15mm figdget-spinner of a watch features a black barrel with Roman numerals on the time-telling barrel at the periphery, which is a first for a M.A.D.1S and brings it more in line with the non-EVO aesthetic for the LM101. Both watches feature the words on the caseback “Fortune Favours the Bold.”
If you didn’t catch the biggest news so far, let me repeat it again. If you’ve bought an MB&F from the brand, you’re already entered in a raffle for the new LM101 20th Anniversary. If you’ve ever even entered a raffle for a M.A.D.Edition watch, you’re entered again for the M.A.D.1.S. If you win either raffle, you get a watch for free. Period. End of story. No credit card, no tariffs, just a free watch from one of the coolest brands in the world.
What We Think
When I sat down with Max Büsser and the team at MB&F during Geneva Watch Days, they said they had one last surprise for the 20th Anniversary of the brand. We had already seen the LM101 EVO, and although I had heard it was coming, I thought it would be the big bash to send out the year for the brand. This, however, was the best surprise I could have hoped for.
The beautiful LM101 movement.
I’ve heard complaints from friends who struggled to get an M.A.D.1 in the past (one friend, in particular, messaged me ad nauseam until recently, when they won a raffle). FOMO is a real thing, and the M.A.D.Editions have been so great, it’s no wonder people don’t want to miss out.
Meanwhile, the wait for an MB&F in general had become quite long before the brand was able to catch up more recently. However, no matter what complaints people might have, I struggle to think of a brand that cares more about the community than MB&F.
I would say that even if they weren’t giving out free Legacy Machines. They’ve hosted a variety of gatherings, podcasts, welcome events, and more to demonstrate their affection for the people who care about them. I once watched Max Büsser wait in line for about 200 people who wanted to take pictures with him in Singapore. This gesture, however, seems above and beyond, and I wish everyone who is entered good luck. I hope the winners enjoy their watches.
