Introducing: Omega Counts Down 100 Days Until The Winter Olympics With The Speedmaster 38mm Milano Cortina 2026

What We Know

We’re 100 days out from the start of the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina next year, and Omega, the official timekeeper of the games, is celebrating with a very winter-themed 38mm Speedmaster with one very interesting feature. The new Speedmaster Milano Cortina 2026 has a 38mm by 14.75mm stainless steel case with 100m of water resistance, capped with a polished stainless steel bezel with a blue ceramic ring and a white enamel DON tachymeter scale, which sets the wintery tone.

It’s the dial that takes it all the way into the frozen mountains, with a varnished white dial featuring a frosted blue transfer and a finger-trace pattern inspired by the Milano Cortina 2026 emblem, and white varnished and lacquered subdials with a special azurage finish. 

The diamond-polished hour markers have a blue CVD coating that matches the hands, and are filled with Super-LumiNova. The chronograph hand has a special gradient from light to dark blue. Finally, you’ll notice that the 26th of the month (shown in the date window) is done in the same font as the Milano Cortina 26 logo (which is also on the caseback). The remaining dates are in a normal font.

Inside the case is the Caliber 3330 automatic COSC-certified movement with 52 hours of power reserve and functions including hours, minutes, small seconds, date, chronograph, and 30-minute and 12-hour counters. The most significant practical change here is a new bracelet, like the ones found on the Speedmaster Professional, with an 18 to 15mm taper and a clasp with a comfort-release adjustment system that offers the wearer about 2mm of adjustment.

The watch is not a limited edition, but it is a special edition, so it’s not a permanent part of the collection. But for those who want one before the end of the Winter Olympics, the price is $6,800.

What We Think

One of my favorite oddball Speedmaster designs is the blue mother-of-pearl dials they’ve done over the years. They’re quirky, unexpected, and far from the practical “professional” designs that people are used to. This bridges a gap without looking too precious, but plays off the blues and whites of a winter theme. While the 38mm Speedmasters are probably not the first choice for most enthusiasts (myself included), the blue-and-white colorway has done well in other formats, like the Silver Snoopy, so I can see this being one of their more successful Olympics watches in recent memory.
