Gary Striewski is no stranger around these parts—Talking Watches alum, SportsCenter anchor, all-around great guy—so we could think of no better person to help kick off this year’s UBS House of Craft. He sat down with Ben Clymer to talk through this year’s theme, “Icons of Time,” and the exhibition’s twelve carefully curated watches.

In front of a packed room on opening night, Gary asked Ben how he approached curation and framed the whole exhibition. They talked through the provenance of several pieces on display and, just as interestingly, what was left out—because narrowing things down to twelve watches was no easy task.
The conversation also touched on Ben’s own journey to this moment, how he and the Hodinkee team brought the exhibition from concept to reality, and yes, even Ben’s personal grail.
