Editor’s pick — Accessory quick take: key highlight (movement/specs for watches, materials/finish, limited run, pricing tier) in 1–2 lines.
One of our goals at Hodinkee in 2026 is to provide more opportunities for the community to get together. In that spirit, we hosted a happy hour last week at the Watches of Switzerland store in SoHo. It happened to land on one of the first true spring days in New York City, and the energy matched it. We kept it simple: drinks were a plethora of local beers from our friends at Grotta, and food was pizza from Nolita’s Upside Pizza. And we were blown away by the turnout.
The room filled up quickly with a great mix of people—friends old and new—and, of course, plenty of good watches. Scroll through the photos below for a recap of the night and to see some great watches. If you made it out, thanks so much for coming. If you missed this one, we’re planning to do more. We’ll share details here and on the Hodinkee Instagram, so keep an eye out!

We had a packed house.

Maybe the most unexpected appearance at the party. When the team went to our local favorite bar, Grotta, to order beers for the party, we ran into someone wearing an incredibly rare JLC Reverso Métiers Rare Shahnameh watch. Then he pulled out his roll and showed that he had all four (only 10 of each were made). So, of course, he was invited to the party.

The watches take inspiration from the 13th to 16th century art of Persian miniature painting, reinterpreted as enamel miniature painting, grand feu enamelling, paillonnage and guillochage. The paintings chosen are in museum collections worldwide and are from around the 1530s, chosen because the represent pre-polo horse competitions.
