Editor’s pick — Accessory quick take: key highlight (movement/specs for watches, materials/finish, limited run, pricing tier) in 1–2 lines.
What We Know
A few months ago, I got a message from my friend Andrea Furlan, one of the two co-founders of the brand Furlan Marri, that basically said: “I bought a meteorite.” That’s a wild way to start a message. The meteorite in question was a portion of the Muonionalusta meteorite, an iron meteorite formed within the core of a differentiated asteroid over 4.5 billion years ago. Chunks of the meteorite, which fell around 1 million years ago west of the border between Sweden and Finland, are spread across museums and collections around the world. This is the first and only iron meteorite with stishovite, a material that can only form during an impact event, and is classified as an octahedrite meteorite (thus the name for the watch). The prevailing theory is that the parent asteroid was struck by cosmic rays, which caused it to break apart violently. And now, like the famed Gibeon meteorite, it’s found its way to a watch dial to celebrate the brand’s 5th Anniversary.

The new Meteorite Octa is an interpretation of the brand’s Mechaquartz permanent collection of watches, which helped the brand rise to prominence during its Kickstarter days and has since become one of the most well-designed and well-finished sub-$1,000 watches. That means it’s got a Seiko V64 movement, which has a mechanical module for a smooth sweep of the hands. The watch features a 38mm by 12mm stainless steel case with a 46mm lug-to-lug. The case features a mix of perlage, polishing, satin brushing, and deep embossing (with a solid but engraved decagonal caseback), plus 50 meters of water resistance, but that level of finishing is unusual at the price.

But to me, it’s always all about the dial for Furlan Marri. They are the best, even compared to most brands that are multiple times their price point. Here, the use of meteorite is awesome (though admittedly not quite as tight and intense a Widmanstätten pattern as on the Gibeon pattern) and much better than brands that grind up meteorite fragments and etch a pattern into the dial. It’s still a very striking look. Like the watches for Revolution and Auro Montanari (of which I’m a proud owner), the new watch uses a sandwich construction, with the meteorite raised and the matte-finished outer ring and subdials lower and contrasting in white. Then they added the fan-favorite pulsation scale (for timing heartbeats) and capped the dial with raised, applied stainless-steel Roman numerals. If you see one of these watches in person, you’ll get why the finishing is so good.

The new Meteorite Octa is not part of the brand’s permanent collection, but will be made for anyone who orders between April 10 and April 20, 2026. The price is a reasonable CHF 720.
What We Think
I think it’s okay to admit I’m a fan of Furlan Marri. I wouldn’t ever be afraid to say if there’s something to criticize, but I don’t recall anything that’s come up that makes me feel that way. This is an incredibly cool release that kind of came out of left field (Andrea Furlan often shows me things a year or more in advance), so I’m just a little mad that I will suddenly have to be spending money unexpectedly to get a watch that I like more and more as I look at the pictures. The best touch here is the use of white to contrast against the grey of the dial. Kudos to them for this launch.
