How I Became: Season Two Of Dazed’s Online Event Series Just Dropped

At a certain age, children believe that all adults fall into one of the following categories: popstar, teacher, astronaut, footballer, vet, doctor or dentist. But as we get older, we discover broader possibilities for our futures. In Design and Technology class (DT), you might have been briefly introduced to Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano (both were once on the GCSE syllabus). What we weren’t taught, however, is that there are hundreds of jobs within the fashion industry beyond being a designer.

We might learn more about the different pillars of the industry at university, but what better way to discover what styling, photography or being a casting agent really means, than hearing it directly from the horse’s mouth? Enter Dazed’s online event series, How I Became, which first launched earlier this year and hosted a spectrum of industry heavyweights, including Alexander Fury, Imruh Asha, Katie Grand and Jawara Alleyne.

After its huge success earlier this spring, the series is officially returning for a second season. Hosted as ever by Dazed Club creative director Jack Sunnucks, season two is a New York City special, featuring a line-up of creatives working across TV, film, journalism, beauty, photography, PR, production, casting, styling and more. On the bill this time around will be: stylist Zara Mirkin, photographer Tyrell Hampton, make-up artist Raisa Flowers, nail artist Dawn Sterling, cultural commentator Evan Ross Katz, consultant Gia Kuan and founder of casting agency GK-LD, Greg Krelenstein.

Taking place every week at 6pm (10am in LA or 1pm NYC), each speaker will discuss everything from their creative beginnings, practical anecdotes, lessons learned and creative processes, to the trials, tribulations and triumphs of their careers. See all the information you need to register below.
