When Bovet introduced the Récital 12 on a bracelet for the first time back in 2024, it put the opulence-forward brand onto a lot of radars, turning Pascal Raffy’s high-end and exclusive operation into a contender for a high-end daily wearer. The addition of on-trend semi-precious stone dials in malachite and tiger’s eye only adds to the wrist appeal of this already alluring watch.
Before we get to the dials, let’s recap on the Récital 12. Sized well at 40mm, with a light titanium case, the Récital 12 is made to be worn — nowhere is this more apparent than with the bracelet. It’s a remarkable work of art. The flat, seamless links are deceptively simple, and the line of the case is continued through a tapering (and finally twisting) polished central element that is uninterrupted thanks to the hidden double folding clasp that allows for 3mm of on the wrist adjustment, to allow for all day comfort.
The dial side aesthetics are very much in line with Bovet’s overall look and feel: sweeping bridged amplified with superb perlage giving the caliber a musical feel that is entirely on brand — and even without the stone primary dial, there’s plenty of eye candy on hand in the form of the balance and regulating organ being on display, there’s even a trefoil seconds indicator sitting directly on top of the seconds wheel. Of course, it’s worth noting that this movement is made in Bovet’s on manufacture, with over 95% of the components, including the hairspring and regulator, being produced by Bovet.
Finally, the stone stars of the show. The malachite dial is characterised by its vibrant green shades and unique, ululating layered composition, something that Bovet has accentuated through its careful selection and treatment of the stone, which is mounted on a metal dial base and polished. Tiger’s eye is renowned for its shimmering effect, technically known as chatoyancy, and a hallmark of quartz family minerals. Both these choices are dramatic and a perfect fit for Bovet’s exuberant design. If we could make one change, it would be to remove the limited edition number from the dial — it’s a fairly small amount of stone, and it should be allowed to shine as much as possible.
