Introducing: Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty

Editor’s pick — Accessory quick take: key highlight (movement/specs for watches, materials/finish, limited run, pricing tier) in 1–2 lines.

What We Know

For a brand founded in 1791, fifty years may not sound like a long time—but for Girard-Perregaux and its most popular model, the Laureato, this anniversary is worth marking. Initially introduced in 1975, as shown below, the Laureato arrived at the height of the integrated-bracelet sports-watch trend, in quartz no less, nestled between the 1972 Royal Oak and the 1976 Nautilus. Now, to celebrate the half-century mark, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty brings the design full circle.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato 1975

The original Laureato from 1975.

The Laureato Fifty case measures 39mm in diameter and 9.8mm thick, featuring its signature tonneau profile and an octagonal bezel with alternating satin-brushed and polished finishes. It’s rendered in a mix of steel and 3N yellow gold, reminiscent of the original 1975 bicolor model. Water resistance is a robust 150 meters, and the sunray grey “Clous de Paris” dial complements the matching gold-toned indexes and hands.

Inside beats the newly developed Calibre GP4800, a self-winding mechanical movement visible through the sapphire caseback. It features a silicon escapement, variable inertia balance, and 55-hour power reserve. It also has a first for the brand—a “simple” (hours, minutes, seconds, date) calibre designed around the brand’s signature “Three Bridges” architecture, which has been extended beyond the tourbillon for the first time.

The integrated bracelet features steel “H” links paired with yellow-gold center links, crafted in a tapering design. A triple-folding clasp engraved with the GP logo features a useful 4mm micro-adjustment.

The Laureato Fifty costs $28,320 USD, is limited to 200 pieces, and will be available from October 2025 through Girard-Perregaux retailers.

What We Think

We saw this piece a few months ahead of launch, and to my eyes it immediately stood out compared to the 42mm Infinite Grey released earlier this year. I’ve always been fond of how the Laureato wears, mainly because of its thinness on the wrist, but this one feels especially right—39mm hits the sweet spot for smaller wrists (like me). The two-tone bracelet surprised me as well. I’m not usually one for mixed metals, yet it works here, adding warmth without flash. The new movement’s finishing and architecture also feel like real value at this price point.

If I were to have one critique, it’s that I wish Girard-Perregaux had explored a different dial color than grey, especially so soon after the Infinite Grey release earlier this year. Still, the Laureato Fifty reminds us why this line endures: it remains fully manufactured in-house, is nicely proportioned, and could be a solid option if you’re looking to enter the world of integrated-bracelet sports watches.
