Editor’s pick — Accessory quick take: key highlight (movement/specs for watches, materials/finish, limited run, pricing tier) in 1–2 lines.
The final day at Augusta is always a thriller, but this one felt especially special—and Rory McIlroy delivered, winning his second straight The Masters Tournament before lifting the trophy wearing Omega De Ville Tourbillon. An Omega ambassador since 2013, it marks a pivot from the Omega Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary he wore last year.

With a leaderboard packed heading into the second nine, the tournament could have gone any number of ways. McIlroy, who started strong through the first two rounds before cooling slightly on Saturday, found another gear when it mattered most. After sitting two shots back early in the final round, he surged ahead—turning that deficit into a three-shot lead with five holes to play. From there, it was control. McIlroy managed the closing stretch at Augusta National Golf Club with composure, closing things out to slip on the Green Jacket for the second straight year. He ended up winning by one stroke, just like he did last year, and then the question turned to—what was going to be on his wrist?
Former Talking Watch alum, SportsCenter anchor, and long-time friend of Hodinkee, Gary Striewski, actually got to speak with Rory about this watch a few years ago.
For more on Rory’s interest in watches, we spoke with the now two-time Masters Champion, six-time major champion, a few years ago in a video interview about a multitude of things in the lead-up to the 2020 PGA Championship, and later for an in-depth conversation on Episode 99 of Hodinkee Radio.

With the win, McIlroy becomes just the fourth player ever to go back-to-back at The Masters Tournament. After waiting 17 years for his first, he needed just 365 days for his second.
